Terre Lazzaroni was founded in 2009 when the Lazzaroni family purchased a few hectares of land in Buttrio, Friuli Venezia Giulia located in the northeast of Italy. The initial purpose was to source wood for personal use, little did they know, there were some hidden vines scattered throughout the land they purchased, waiting to be discovered. After a few years of working on the lands, production commenced and the family began cultivating Friulano and Refosco del Peduncolo Rosso grape varietals, alongside some old Merlot vines.
There is incredible care behind each bottle and low yields warrant for a tiny production of bottles. The family’s profound respect for the land and environment is demonstrated in the minimal use of chemicals and a natural wine cultivation philosophy. In the cellar the white grapes are softly pressed at cold temperature, followed by a fermentation in barriques where the malolactic does not take place. Reds spend some time fermenting on the skins in stainless steel before they rest in new French oak.
